|Maine Association of Conservation Districts President Stephen Hobart, of Blanchard, speaks about the success of the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District's two week summer camp and their Demonstration Forest project.
The importance of partnerships, and of youth education, were a big focus at this year's National Association of Conservation Districts annual meeting in Atlanta, GA. The Piscataquis County report was one of only four Success Stories selected from across the nation to be heard by the 1,200 conference attendees.
Hobart was joined by Rosetta Thompson of Franklin County SWCD, MACD Past President Bruce Roope of Central Aroostook County SWCD and Tony Carroll of York County SWCD, and State Conservationist Joyce Swartzendruber of the Natural Resources Conservation Service in representing Maine's farmers, foresters and landowners at the national meeting.
